Diagnosis

Fracture calcaneum with compression and reduced Bohler`s angle.

Teaching Points

• Understand Bohler`s angle. Refer: Accident & Emergency Radiology: a survival guide (Page 228).
• Assessing Bohler`s angle makes you think - is there a calcaneal fracture?"
• A normal Bohler`s angle does not exclude a fracture.
• Always look at the cortex of an injured bone for any cortical breaks.
• Calcaneal fractures do not always result from a fall from a height. Some occur as a result of twisting the ankle.
